Moving to BCS
The complete guide to relocating to Bryan–College Station
The Process
- 1
Choose your area
1–4 weeks
Explore established BCS neighborhoods — from historic districts to family-friendly suburbs. Think about commute, school district (Bryan ISD vs. College Station ISD), and whether you want to be near campus or further out.
- Browse our Neighborhood Guides for prices, schools, and commute notes per area
- Visit on a game-day weekend to see traffic at its peak
- 2
Find your home or apartment
2–8 weeks
Buying? Connect with a local agent and get pre-approved with a lender. Renting? Search apartment complexes by unit type, amenities, and laundry setup — filter for student-oriented or townhome communities.
- Apartment availability tightens fast in late summer before the Texas A&M semester starts
- A local REALTOR® can flag flood zones and foundation issues common to the area
- 3
Set up utilities & city services
A few days
Water, trash, electric, and permits run through the City of Bryan or City of College Station depending on your address. Bryan residents use Bryan Texas Utilities; most College Station addresses use College Station Utilities.
- Start utility applications a week before move-in so service is on day one
- Check our Local Info hub for the right city office for your address
- 4
Enroll the kids in school
1–2 weeks
Register with Bryan ISD or College Station ISD based on your address. School Central has supply lists, calendars, and enrollment info for both districts.
- Proof of residency (lease or utility bill) is required for enrollment
- Check key dates so you don't miss registration windows
- 5
